15th September, 1979. We were married in a civil ceremony at Mum's unit in Weatherall Road, Cheltenham. It was a great wedding. That night we stayed at the Mentone Hub Motel and the next morning we called into Mum's before driving to Queensland, and made sandwiches from leftovers from the wedding. I remember Mum and I trekking around everywhere looking for a wedding dress and I was prepared to spend up to $150, after all I wasn't getting married as a bride in a white gown, and $150 was a considerable sum in those days. Anyway I ended up getting the dress from the leisurewear department in Myer for a meagre $25!
